With no NFL football for at least another few months, the sports betting spotlight is shining bright on basketball this month, with the March Madness betting throughout the week, and the full slate of NBA games scheduled on Sundays. This week will be no different with some intriguing pay head matchups to keep an eye on, beginning in the early afternoon and lasting late in to the night.

While Minnesota has shown this season with the addition of Ricky Rubio and the development of Kevin Love in to one of the league’s most talented big men that the pieces are in place for future success, the most surprising story this season has been the play of the Nuggets. Denver was supposed to take a major step back following the Carmelo Anthony trade with the New York Knicks, but the team has continued to defy the critics and is currently on the inside of the playoff picture in the Western conference. Danilo Gallinari’s back seems to be healing, and that adds another piece to the Nuggets’ team attack. Denver is actually two games above .500 on the road this season, and should be able to get the job done against a Timberwolves’ squad that has performed around .500 at home.

It seems as though Atlanta has become that team that everybody knows will make the postseason and play their one playoff round before heading home, and if the Hawks are going to have any chance at proving the price per head bookies wrong about that they will have to do it in the postseason. The Jazz on the other hand are fighting just to reach the playoffs in a much deeper Western conference. Unfortunately for a team that is just 6-16 on the road this season, this game won’t help them get any closer.

Miami Heat @ Oklahoma City Thunder

A potential NBA Finals showdown and the highlight of the week in the NBA, Lebon James and the Heat take their talents to one of the smallest media markets in North America to play arguably the NBA’s best team. At 35-12, the Thunder own the best record in the Western conference, and have to be eager to prove their merit on the biggest stage. Oklahoma City has won 20 of 24 games at home this season, and while Miami will push them to the limit, look for Kevin Durant and company to pull through.
